Nominations now being accepted for 2008 Community Volunteer Awards!

The Volunteer Center of Battle Creek is pleased to announce that nominations are now being accepted for the 2008 Community Volunteer Awards.  The Community Volunteer Awards were established 31 years ago to honor outstanding volunteers from across the community of Battle Creek.  This event is about thanking one of America's most valuable assets – our volunteers – and calling the public's attention to all that they do to improve our communities.

The Volunteer Center hosts a luncheon to culminate National Volunteer Week activities each year.  This year, the luncheon will be held Friday, May 2 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at Burnham Brook.  The general public is invited and encouraged to attend the luncheon.  Ticket information will be released in early April.

Any organization that utilizes volunteers is eligible to submit nominations.  This includes nonprofit agencies, service clubs and organizations, churches, and even corporations that are involved in employee volunteering.  All nominations will be judged by a panel of community members, and the winners will be announced at the luncheon.  Each winner will receive a beautiful, engraved award as well as a complimentary ticket to the luncheon.

This event is an excellent opportunity to showcase volunteers who work in a variety of areas.  Nominations are being accepted for the following awards: Volunteer of the Year, Youth Volunteer of the Year, Doris Laimbeer Group Volunteer Award, Continuing Service Award, Volunteer for Health Care Award, Distinguished Provider Award, and Mentor of the Year.  Nominations must be postmarked by Wednesday, March 19 to be considered.  The nomination packet can be downloaded from the link at the left, or by calling the Volunteer Center to request a hard copy.  Get started writing today!
