Community Volunteer Awards

The Community Volunteer Awards were established 32 years ago to honor outstanding volunteers from across the community of Battle Creek.  This event is about thanking one of America’s most valuable assets - our volunteers - and calling the public’s attention to all that they do to improve our communities.  HandsOn Battle Creek hosts a luncheon during National Volunteer Week each year to honor area volunteers in the following categories:

Volunteer of the Year - Recognizes any outstanding individual, group, or family, 18 years old or older from Battle Creek who has demonstrated the power of giving back to their community.

Youth Volunteer of the Year - Recognizes a youth (or group of youth) under 18 years old who have gone the extra mile to make a difference.

Mentor of the Year - Honors an individual who has made a significant impact in someone's life by being a mentor.

Continuing Service Award - Honors “long-term” volunteers who have made an impact on an organization for at least five years.

Distinguished Provider Award -  Recognizes and honors health providers that volunteer their time within their clinics, private offices, etc. to help the uninsured receive important medical care.

Volunteer for Health Care Award - Honors those volunteering in health care who may not be direct providers (hygienists, assistants, volunteers at nursing care facilities, etc.).

Doris Laimbeer Group Volunteer Award - Recognizes a group, including families, who take on large tasks and make a big impact when they all work together toward a shared goal in their community.
